I took in the Thursday night December 5th action of the HoopHall West HS Invitational at Chaparral HS (Scottsdale AZ). College coaches in the building included head coach Tom Crean (Georgia) & assistants from Arizona, USC, Arizona State, North Carolina, Oklahoma State, Vanderbilt, New Mexico, Duquesne and San Diego.
Here is a look at the evening’s standouts:
Jalen Green 6’5” 2020 Prolific Prep (Napa CA)
Spectacular athlete is a high-wire scoring act. When his jumper is falling, he is right there at the very top of this loaded 2020 class. Top ranked unsigned/uncommitted senior has USC, Oregon, Memphis, Auburn and Fresno State still the hunt. Scored 33 points (18 in 1st half) to lead Prolific Prep 88-71 win over Hillcrest Prep in a ESPN2 live-telecast game.
Andre Jackson 6’8″ 2020 Albany Academy (Albany NY)
UConn signee was very impressive on both sides of the ball. Very versatile forward with length has explosiveness to the rim, range on his jump shot and excellent defensive instincts (had a very impressive blocked shot, trailing opponent). Jackson scored 26 points in a 76-54 win over Pinnacle (Phoenix AZ).
Nimari Burnett 6’4’ 2020 Prolific Prep (Napa CA)
Dependable and consistent 3-point shooter is also an underrated athlete and defender. Chicago native headed to Texas Tech had 15 points.
Daylen Terry 6’7” 2020 Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix AZ)
Long lead guard with nice passing skills and ability to slash to rim. Arizona signee is also a versatile defender. Had 15 points against Prolific Prep.
Mike Foster 6’8” 2021 Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix AZ)
Strong, physical and bouncy PF is a Milwaukee native with a nice jump hook. Top 5-10 prospect in national junior class had 11 points.
Sadraque Nganga 6’10” 2022 Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix AZ)
Young but very talented big man runs floor like a gazelle and is very skilled handling rock in the open floor. Angola native has nice outside touch and scary HM upside! Scored 9 points vs. Prolific Prep.
Fallou Cisse 6’7” 2021 Prolific Prep (Napa CA)
Very improved athletic junior forward defends with energy.
Coleman Hawkins 6’9” 2020 Prolific Prep (Napa CA)
Illinois signee has nice length/perimeter stroke combo package.
Frank Ansalem 6’9” 2021 Prolific Prep (Napa CA)
Got my first look at Anselem and there is lots to like. Long, athletic and nicely-framed
PF is a HM prospect worth tracking long-term.
Riley Mulvey 6’10” 2022 Albany Academy (Albany NY)
Young Big with nice size runs floor well and is a post-guy for Mid-majors to track in the East.
Chianti Clay 5’11” 2021 Hillcrest Prep (Phoenix AZ)
Despite Hillcrest’s loss, I liked what I saw out of Clay tonight. Deceptively quick PG with accurate 3-point stroke plays with confidence.
Jordan Pope 6’0” 2022 Prolific Prep (Napa CA)
Poised soph point guard has confident outside stroke and ability to beat defenders off the dribble. Scored 11 points against Hillcrest.
