The 15th annual Pangos All-South Frosh/Soph Camp presented by Ethika was held earlier this Fall (October 3-4) at Duncanville (Dallas TX). This event featured approximately 220+ top 2023 and 2024 prospects (along with a few talented 2025 players) from Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, New Mexico, Mississippi, Illinois, Georgia, Florida and California. This camp has a long tradition of showcasing many of the best young talent of the South and boast alumni the likes of Trae Young, DeAaron Fox, Terrance Ferguson, Cade Cunningham, Tyrese Maxey, Charles Bassey, Greg Brown and Moses Moody.
The depth of the talent present had media/scouts optimistic about the future of Southwest high school hoops and this platform gave talented young prospects in those classes a real opportunity to display their skills and future potential.

The camp was loaded with athletic wings with and skilled guards as well as several big men with length and excellent long-term potential. The top 60 players were selected by the national media/scouts present and were showcased in the two “cream of the crop” games held at the conclusion of the event. Unfortunately, there was not enough room for all of the worthy kids deserving to be in the two all-star games so I have listed those not honored as all-star game selections but nonetheless impressive, as camp “honorable mention” at the end of this report.
Based upon their outstanding play, sophomores 6-3 Robert Jones Jr., 6-5 Christopher Lockett and 6-8 Brandon Garrison were named overall camp co-Most Outstanding Players.
In the Top 30 Game, it was game co-MVP 5-11 PG TJohnn Brown scoring 10 points, dishing out 4 assists and having 3 steals while leading the White Team to a 103-95 win over the Black squad. 6-5 2024 K. Annor Boateng led the Black unit with 12 points/six boards and earned his share of co-MVP honors in the process.
In the Top 60 game, game co-MVP 2022 guard Exodus Ayers sparked the Black team past the White squad 112-89 with 13 points, 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals. Earning game co-MVP honors for the White unit was 6-7 2022 Jacob Crow with 12 points and 5 boards.

While this is a review of the camp, please keep in mind that this is a very early look at underclass prospects that have much room for future growth and are all “unfinished” products.
Below, we will highlight the players that were selected to the Top 30 game as well as list the Top 60 Game selections and “honorable mention” camp players.

Amier Ali 6’7” 2024 Spring Creek Academy (Plano TX)
Young and versatile forward is productive in the paint and a more than solid rebounder. Rangy defender is definitely one to track in 2024. Ronnie Flores (Ball is Life & Grassrootshoops.net) selected Ali as his #8 player in camp.
Dean Balo 6’3″ 2023 JJ Pearce (Richardson TX)
Scoring point guard makes excellent decisions and is a pin-point passer. Very good student is getting early interest from Texas Tech and Texas State. Dad (Scott Balo) played his HS ball at Santa Margarita (CA) for Jerry DeBusk.
Deontrell Barrett 6’0″ 2024 Faith Family Academy (Dallas TX)
Crafty lefty point guard is also a good on-ball defender. Strong with the rock, Barrett is a very good 3-point shooter (had 2 “threes” in the Top 30 Game).
Finley Bizjack 6’4″ 2023 Byron Nelson (Trophy Club TX)
Heady lead guard can make plays for himself and others utilizing a very nifty hesitation dribble move. Excellent student has nice range on jump shot and possesses early offers from Stanford, TCU, DePaul and UT-Arlington.
Layden Blocker 6’2″ 2023 Little Rock Christian Academy (AR)
Quick and athletic left guard is a terror in transition and loves to attack the rim for the flush. Block had 10 points in Top 30 Game and early offers from Arkansas, TCU, Auburn, Virginia Tech, St. John’s, Virginia Tech, Tulane, Southern Miss, Central Arkansas and Oral Roberts.
K. Annor Boateng 6’5″ 2024 Little Rock Central (AR)
Athletic young wing with size and strength is a legit HM prospect with nation-wide recruiting value. Boateng’s 12 points/6 boards in the Top 30 Game earned him a share of Game MVP honors. Prior to this camp Boateng only held one offer from Arkansas Pine-Buff and after his stellar performance here Eric Musselman made him a Razorback 2024 priority by extending an offer of his own.
TJohnn Brown 5’11″ 2023 South Garland (Garland TX)
Quick and pesky PG competes with energy every time he steps on the floor and is has proven to be consistently productive. Brown played well at the Pangos Best of Dallas League this past August and he was on his “A” game at this camp as well – topping it off with 10 points/4 assists/3 steals in Top 30 Game – earning a share of game co-MVP honors. Ronnie Flores (Ball is Life & Grassrootshoops.net) ranked Brown as his #10 player in camp.
Jacolb Cole 6’7″ 2023 Bellaire (TX)
Versatile, multi-dimensional position player is a lefty that can handle the rock out on the perimeter, stroke the outside jumper and finish with authority at the rim. Excellent upside! Cole’s talent and upside have not gone unnoticed as LSU, TCU and Ole Miss have already offered. Cole had 10 points/5 boards in the Top 30 Game. Ronnie Flores (Ball is Life & Grassrootshoops.net) slotted Cole as his #3 player in camp. Jacolb has early offers from LSU, Ole Miss and TCU with interest from Texas Tech.
Shane Douma-Sanchez 6’0″ 2023 Del Norte (Albuquerque NM)
Heady and tough PG always seems to make the right decision. Very good shooter hit 2 “threes” in the Top 30 Game. Shane’s Top 30 Game selection here followed up his excellent performance at the Pangos All-West Fr/So Camp in St. George UT (where he was also named to the Top 30 Game). Terrific student too.
Jaxson Ford 6’7″ 2024 Prosper (TX)
Strong and athletic forward impacts the game on both ends. Very promising young prospect finishes well in traffic and is a premier shot-blocker. Future Big 12 target has real High-major potential. Time to buy stock is now!
Dalen Fuller 6’4” 2024 Union (Tulsa OK)
Extremely promising wing with nice athleticism and skill package. High-major lefty is strong and explosive in the open floor and rebounds well for size. Fuller had 12 points in the Top 30 Game.
Brandon Garrison 6’8″ 2023 Del City (OK)
Long and active PF that runs floor well and functions as a tenacious rim-protector & rebounder. Garrison has range on his perimeter shot and can finish at the rim in traffic. Brandon’s fine and consistent play here earned him a share of overall camp MOP honors. Ronnie Flores (Ball is Life & Grassrootshoops.net) picked Garrison as his #2 player in camp. Garrison has heard from in-state programs Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
Tristan Gross 6’4″ 2023 Calvary Christian (Clearwater FL)
Highly skilled WG is an elite shooter from behind the arc. Underrated athlete and excellent student plays with poise. Gross received him 1st D1 offer in November from SMU and also has interest from Creighton, Stanford, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, Texas and Pepperdine.
Robert Jones Jr. 6’3” 2023 Ray Braswell (Aubrey TX)
Strong and quick lead guard with very potent mid-range game is a great competitor that can make shots especially from mid-range. Jones was outstanding all camp long, draining jump shot after jump shot and displayed excellent defensive technique and intensity. Jones finished off a great camp with 10 points in the Top 30 Game and was named overall co-MOP. Van Coleman has him slotted #12 nationally in his Nothing But Net Magazine 2023 rankings. Ronnie Flores (Ball is Life & Grassrootshoops.net) pegged Jones as his #1 player in camp. Having no official offers prior to the camp, the word got out quickly with TCU and Tulsa quickly extending offers. Very good student too. Todd Jones 6’7″ 2024 Isidore Newman (New Orleans LA)
Smooth hybrid-forward with nice all-around skill set. Jones had 10 points in the Top 30 Game. Ronnie Flores (Ball is Life & Grassrootshoops.net) pegged Jones as his #8 player in camp.
Jamyron Keller 6’2″ 2023 Ellison (Killeen TX)
Tough as nails guard with quickness and athleticism competes on all cylinders. Jamyron scored 11 points in the Top 30 Game. Keller has early offers from SMU, Wyoming and Sam Houston State.
Kenyon “KJ” Lewis 6’4” 2023 Chapin (El Paso TX)
Strong and explosive WG plays with assertiveness and energy is the best prospect out of El Paso in years. Just named as ESPN.com’s #21 2023 prospect, KJ had 13 points in the Top 30 Game. Ronnie Flores (Ball is Life & Grassrootshoops.net) chose Lewis as his #4 player in camp. Lewis has picked up early offers from TCU, Arizona State, Texas A&M, Houston, UTEP, DePaul and Western Illinois.
Christopher Lockett Jr. 6’5” 2023 Isidore Newman (New Orleans LA)
Big and talented guard that can score in a wide variety of ways and is a very underrated passer. 247Sports.com’s composite #18 2023 prospect has offers from LSU, Baylor, Georgetown, Oklahoma State, Wichita State, Houston, Memphis, Vanderbilt and Grambling State. Ronnie Flores (Ball is Life & Grassrootshoops.net) claimed Lockett as his #5 player in camp and ESPN.com now has him as their #19 prospect in 2023.
Justin McBride 6’6″ 2023 Oak Hill Academy (Mouth of Wilson VA)
Tough WF with more than solid all-around game is a DFW area native that can explode to rim as well as finish through contact. Justin had 13 points in the Top 30 Game. McBride is the #33 overall 2023 247Sports.com prospect that has picked up offers Kansas, TCU and Arkansas after his impressive play here in Duncanville. Ronnie Flores (Ball is Life & Grassrootshoops.net) selected McBride as his #6 player in camp.
Liam McNeeley 6’6″ 2024 Pearce (Richardson TX)
Terrific young 2-way player is an athletic and skilled swingman with great feel. Legit contender for DFW’s #1 frosh prospect spot has offers already from Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, SMU and TCU with Cincinnati, Rice, and Stanford showing interest. Ronnie Flores (Ball is Life & Grassrootshoops.net) ranked Liam as his #7 player in camp.
Doryan Onwuchekwa 6’9″ 2024 Faith Family Academy (Dallas TX)
Big post with nice skill level and emerging athleticism and strength has good footwork in the paint. Doryan has early offers from Texas A&M, SMU and Troy.
Prince Oseya 6’9″ 2024 Premier Academy (Houston TX)
Active rebounder can finish with authority at the rim. Big man runs the floor well and can shoot the “3.” Young prospect worthy of high-major monitoring.
Mier Panoam 6’2″ 2023 Norcross (GA)
Quick and explosive combo-guard is an Alaskan native that makes plays on both ends of the floors. Sudanese-American and very good defender is an “A” student that has an early offer from DePaul.
Dink Pate 6’6″ 2024 LG Pinkston (Dallas TX)
Very promising young swingman with a nice skill set and a great attitude. SMU, Troy and UT-Arlington have extended early offers.
Kevin Paul 6’9 2023 Universal Academy (Dallas TX)
Formidable shot-blocker with quick hands on defense can also score in traffic.
Chiang Ring 6’8″ 2024 Minneapolis South (Minneapolis MN)
Long and wiry hybrid-forward is quick off his feet and can score around the cup. Ring has the defensive versatility to guard the post as well as out on the perimeter.
Bralyn Smith 6’5” 2023 TACA Home School (Dallas TX)
Wing with nice length and excellent 3-point shooting ability and smooth release on his shot. Scores also well in transition.

Crafty lefty combo-guard can score from deep beyond the 3-point arc as well as via a very effective floater in the paint.
Drew Steffe 6’5″ 2023 Frisco Memorial (Frisco TX)
Sharp-shooting lead guard with a perimeter stroke smoother than a shot of top shelf cognac. Excellent student reminds me of a young Vinnie Del Negro. Drew has offers from Arizona State, Auburn, Oklahoma State, SMU, Georgia Tech, TCU, DePaul, UTEP, Tulane, Western Michigan and UT-Arlington.
Ja’Kobe Walter 6’5″ 2023 McKinney (TX)
Walter is one of the most talented Soph WGs in nation – currently ranked #14 nationally by 247Sports.com. Complete package player with the size, skill and requisite athleticism to be an impact player at the high-major level. Walter has offers from Alabama, Baylor, Memphis, Oklahoma, TCU, Texas A&M and SMU.
Carl’sheon Young 6’4” 2025 Hefner MS (Oklahoma City OK)
Extremely talented young wing guard with real HM potential. Terrific shooter handles rock well. National scout and McDonald’s All-American Game selection committee member Frank Burlison considered Young as the best 2025 prospect at all of this year’s Pangos All-Frosh/Soph Camps.
