In Part I of a two-part report highlighting top players at the showcase, I outlined several of the event’s 2023, 2024 and 2025 standouts: https://nbnmagazine.com/2020-pangos-best-of-socal-summer-showcase-part-i-2023-2024-2025-prospects/

Here in Part II, I will discuss several top 2021 and 2022 performers present.

2021

Wilhelm Breidenbach      6’9”    2021   Mater Dei (Santa Ana CA)
After a somewhat disappointing junior season at Mater Dei where he seemed more inclined to roam the perimeter for jump shots than mix it up inside, Wilhelm reminded us here of the type of multi-dimensional forward he can be.  Balancing battling inside for rebounds and put-backs with extending defenses with his accurate 3-point stroke, Breidenbach was the star of stars in the Top 20 2021 Game scoring a game-high 23 points and having a big impact on both ends.  Wilhelm (an excellent student) has indicated that Utah, Marquette, Nebraska and St. Mary’s are the programs hanging around his recruitment the most at the moment. TJ Wainwright                 6’3”    2021   Westchester (Los Angeles CA)
Confident scoring combo-guard is a lefty that can light it up when hot and he was en feugo here – scoring 19 points (including 5 deep “threes”) in the Top 20 2021 Game.  Wainwright has worked extremely hard on increasing his strength and conditioning during the Covid-19 quarantine period and the results are starting show for one of the most underrated rising senior guard prospects in nation.  East Carolina and Grand Canyon are among the latest schools to join the rising crowd of mid-to-high major programs showing interest coast to coast.  Showcase and Pangos Dandy Dozen video highlights: https://twitter.com/pacmanx5/status/1280173031113949184

Maxwell Lewis                 6’7”    2021   Hillcrest (Phoenix AZ)
Long swingman with a very smooth skill package.  Las Vegas native has the size to get to the cup and finish as well as possessing the accurate touch to make defenses pay from the perimeter.  Coveted high-major target by the likes of Arizona State, USC, Oklahoma, Baylor, UNLV, Utah, St. John’s, TCU, DePaul, Nevada and Washington State (all have offered).

Josh O’Garro                   6’6”    2021   Santa Clarita Christian (Santa Clarita CA)
Slithering swingman from the Cayman Islands is quickly developing into a potential HM prospect.  Very athletic to the rim, O’Garro has also improved his jump shot substantially.  Josh (ranked #110 nationally by Van Coleman/Nothing But Net Magazine) has offers from Fresno State, UC-Santa Barbara, Grand Canyon, Loyola Marymount, San Diego, Southern Utah and Cal Poly with interest from Vanderbilt, Cal, Wisconsin, USC, Pitt and Cincinnati. Look for that list to grow before it gets shorter.

Glenn Taylor                    6’6”    2021   Coronado (Henderson NV)
Very underrated Western rising senior wing with nice length is quick in transition and is a more than solid defender.  Taylor had 10 points in Top 20 2021 Game.  Cheyenne (Las Vegas NV) transfer has offers including UNLV, Nevada, Eastern Washington, Cal State Northridge and Montana.

Brenton Knapper             6’1”    2021   Colony (Ontario CA)
Crafty and deceptively bouncy lead guard is one of the West’s most underrated rising senior guards. Santa Clara-bound prospect had 17 points in Top 20 2021 Game.

Lamaj Lewis                     6’5”    2021   St. John Bosco (Bellflower CA)
Big wing with nice all-around skills in one of the first Loyola Marymount recruits in the Stan Johnson era in the Westchester area of LA.

Luke Turner                     6’6”    2021   Santa Margarita (CA)
Sharpshooting WF with excellent grades is a Rancho Christian/Temecula CA transfer.

Kam Robinson                 6’9”    2021   Jefferson (Portland OR)
Long and agile forward with a nice skill package had 11 points in Top 20 2021 Game.

Corey Cofield                   6’5”    2021   Birmingham (Lake Balboa CA)
Very athletic and assertive wing with size/strength is a real SoCal sleeper worth tracking.

Brendan Terry                  6’6”    2021   Crossroads (Santa Monica CA)
Strong and productive WF had 15 points in Top 20 2021 Game.  Great attitude and work ethic.

Jaden Phillips                  6’5”    2021   Modesto Christian (Modesto CA)
Active and assertive wing is an excellent two-way player.  Very underrated Central California prospect.

Everett May                      6’5”    2021   Los Alamitos (CA)
Up and coming wing shooter has long-distance 3-point range.  May (son of Cerritos College head coach Russ May) had 10 points (2 “threes”) in Top 20 2021 Game.

Jaden Byers                     6’2”    2021   JSerra (San Juan Capistrano CA)
Quick and explosive combo-guard is always in attack-mode.

Kevin Bradley Jr.             5’11”  2021   Crenshaw (Los Angeles CA)
Very underrated point guard is a savvy ballhandler like his pops Kevin Sr. (who also played at Crenshaw and then at Utah) and can really score as well (averaged 24.7 ppg and 5 apg last season as a junior).

DJ Allen                           6’7”    2021   St. Anthony (Long Beach CA)
Long and athletic forward is very “under the radar” due to missing all of last season due to injury.  Allen had 11 points in Top 2021 Game.

Christian Johnson           6’0”    2021   Lynwood (CA)
“Bam” is a confident floor-general with a very nice mid-range pull-up game.

Keshawn Hall                   6’1”    2021   Jefferson (Portland OR)
Skilled and productive guard had a game-high 20 points in the Top 40 2021 Game which earned him a call-up to the Top 2020 2021 Game where he more than held his own.

Other rising senior (2021) players worth noting include (in alphabetical order):

2022

Joshua Jefferson             6’8”    2022   Liberty (Henderson NV)
Strong and physical PF also has soft touch from the perimeter.  Jefferson had 21 points in the Top 20 2022 Game including game-winning “3” at the buzzer to seal the win for his team.  Top 100 caliber national prospect has early offers from UNLV and Texas A&M and I expect that list to grow exponentially as he continues to improve and produce.  Video of buzzer-beating 3-point game winner:  https://twitter.com/balldawgs/status/1277086604167806976

Scotty Washington          6’5”    2022   St. John Bosco (Bellflower CA)
Washington was very impressive in the Top 20 2022 Game – scoring 24 points (six “3s”). Very improved perimeter shooter with ability to direct a squad missed all of last season due to injury but served notice here he will be a force to be reckoned with in the Trinity League next season. Scotty (the grandson of the late Slam-n-Jam founder Issy Washington and son of former Cal guard Chris Washington) has reclassified to the 2022 class.

Henri Adiassa                  6’10”  2022   Crossroads (Santa Monica CA)
Very improved center is finally starting to blossom into the dominant low-post player I thought he could be.  Displayed nifty footwork in the paint and elite explosion around the rim.  Henri had 14 points in the Top 20 2022 Game, most of them in an authoritarian manner.  High-majors looking for athletic and physical inside players in their 2022 class should jump on this kid now!  Showcase video highlights:  https://twitter.com/Henriadiassa/status/1280028141264572416

Milos Uzan                       6’3”    2022   Desert Pines (Las Vegas NV)

Tajavis Miller                   6’3”    2022   Servite (Anaheim CA)
Strong lead guard with excellent outside stroke had 11 points (three “3s”) in the Top 20 2021 Game. Great kid is also an excellent defender that plays winning basketball.

Jalen Pitre                        6’7”    2022   Poly (Long Beach CA)
Versatile lefty forward is rapidly improving and that progress was on full display here – scoring 19 points in a wide variety of ways.  Gahr/Cerritos transfer is young for his original grade and has indicated that he will re-classify into the 2022 class.  Showcase video highlight: https://twitter.com/balldawgs/status/1277055176499589120

Alpha Chibambe              6’5”    2022   JSerra (San Juan Capistrano CA)
