FINAL Class of 2023 Player Rankings
by Van Coleman
(June 9, 2023)
Now that the dust has settled, and the season has ended for the Class of 2023 it’s time to finalize our national rankings of the nation’s graduating senior class. As we’ve said all along no one player has stepped out and dominated play and secured a clear-cut spot at the top of the class. In reality, you can make an argument for any one of the top four, Isaiah Collier, Ron Holland, D.J. Wagner or Justin Edwards, in our rankings for the top spot, but as is the case in any year that it’s this close we have to rank them as we see them at the end of the high school season so here is how we see it shaking out!
In the top spot is physical 6’3 lead guard Isaiah Collier who led his Wheeler squad to its third 7A title in the last four years in Georgia. He led all scorers in the McDonald’s All-American game going for 25 points in that high school classic. He really dominated play down the stretch of the season and his consistently stellar play in our eyes gave him a slight edge for top spot! Right behind him in the number two spot was the biggest mover in the top tier as 6’8 Ron Holland jumped up the rankings behind stellar outings like the 25 points and 8 rebounds he amassed in a huge win over Cameron Boozer and Miami Columbus as his team ended the season with a 28-1 record and a #3 national ranking. In the third spot was one of two former number one’s in our ranking in 6’3 combo guard D. J. Wagner who capped off his stellar career with a 19-point outing in a win for his squad at the McDonald’s All-American game. He averaged 20 ppg for his career leading his Camden squad to a 94-5 record under his leadership! In the number four spot is another former number one rated talent in 6’7 wing forward Justin Edwards who scored 16 points in leading his Imhotep Charter squad to the Pennsylvania 5A crown a 30-3 overall mark. He was key to winning the prestigious City of Palms title and was solid in the McDonald’s All-American game scoring 10 points versus nation’s best. As I said all four of our top rated quartet could have been the choice! Rounding out the top five was the nation’s top post prospect 7’0 Aaron Bradshaw who teamed with Wagner to form the nation’s top inside-out duo at Camden!
With that in mind, here’s final look the Rankings of the Class of 2023 Top 200 Seniors and the Best of the Rest nationally:
