While there was a deep pool of quality prospects in the house this year, below are 25 of the top players that stood out for me (in alphabetical order).  In the upcoming and subsequent Part II of this event recap, I will note additional players worthy of being mentioned.

Seven Bahati                    6’5″    2024   Heritage Christian (Northridge CA)
Bahati had the event’s top scoring total with a 23 point (3 threes) performance. Seven is an athletic wing guard with quick feet that can really push the rock in transition. Excellent passer has nice and smooth rotation (with range) on jump shot and can finish above the rim with explosion.  While he stills needs to add strength to his wiry body and stay focused at times, there is no denying that the skill level and upside is there to project high-major success.  The time to buy stock in this versatile player and 2022 Pangos All-American Camp Top 60 Game selection is now.

Kaiden Bailey                   6’2”    2026   Orange Lutheran (Orange CA)
Very young and talented guard can play either guard spot but is more comfortable and effective as a scorer – had a high game of 17 points (3 threes) here. Kaiden is great creating off the bounce for himself and teammates and rebounds well for his size. High-major prospect is a SoCal name for the future.

Kadyn Betts                     6’8”    2023   Huntington Prep (WV)
Just recently committed to Minnesota, the Pueblo CO native is a skilled forward with length and nice mobility. Betts runs floor well both on the fast break and in transition defense and is active on the glass too. Underrated 3-point shooter (had 2 threes in a game here).

Zyier Beverly                    6’8″    2023   Washington (Los Angeles CA)
Bouncy combo-forward with improved jump shot (hit a 3 in both games he played in here), Beverly is a fast-rising name in SoCal’s 2023 class. 2022 Pangos All-American Camp invitee needs to add strength but his blossoming talent and upside are too hard to ignore. High game here was a 19 point effort. Reminds me a lot of Davon Jefferson (Lynwood CA HS/USC/long-time overseas pro). New Mexico State, Nevada, Jacksonville and Samford are his current reported offers and I expect that list to exponentially expand before the November 2022 early signing period.

Pearson Carmichael        6’5”    2023   Summit (Bend OR)
Big and skilled wing has deep 3-point stroke and the capability to put lots of points on the board.  High game of 20 points (4 threes) was one of the top scoring outputs here.  Good student (3.3 GPA) has early offers from Pepperdine and Portland.

Justin Daniels                  6’5”    2023   St. Mary’s (Phoenix AZ)
Swift WG has deep range on his perimeter jump shot and can score via a nice floater in the lane as well. Daniels has really improved as “drive and kick” passer too.  High game here was a double figure effort (10 points/2 threes).  SoCal native played his junior season at Denver Prep/CO before now transferring to St. Mary’s for his senior year.

Mike Davis                        6’6”    2023   San Joaquin Memorial (Fresno CA)
Tough and rugged PF patrols paint with physicality and can finish his touches on the block with regularity.  Undersized but effective post player is worthy of Big West and Big Sky looks.

Shane Douma-Sanchez   6’1”    2023   Del Norte (Albuquerque NM)
Very impressed with the play of Douma-Sanchez here! Tough PG has elusive handle and excellent accuracy on his 3-point shot (made 9 threes in his 2 games) – averaging 16.5 ppg.  Very good student (3.7 GPA) led Del Norte to a New Mexico state title as a sophomore (being named state Player of the Year) before sustaining an ACL injury prior to his junior campaign. Southwest sleeper is a very undervalued D1 point guard prospect.

Xavier Edmonds              6’8”    2023   Bishop Montgomery (Torrance CA)
Edmonds was arguably the most physical interior player here. Soft hands allow him to finish down low and he has nice face-up shooting and ball skills. Excellent rebounder had a high game of 15 points (including 1 three) here.

Isaac Garrett                    6’8”    2023   Pleasant Grove (UT)
One of the surprises here was the impactful 2-way play of Garrett.  Athletic hybrid-Forward is quick in transition and a tremendous rebounder/shot-blocker. Excellent student (3.7 GPA) also has nice 3-point range. Top scoring game here was 13 points (2 threes).

Carter Gittens                  6’5”    2023   Sunrise Mountain (Peoria AZ)
Carter is a strong and athletic wing with nice size and real ability to connect from beyond the 3-point arc. Very good student (3.5 GPA) averaged an event high 19.5 ppg with his 22 point (6 threes) outburst being his signature effort. Will be back in Long Beach CA area soon at the NCAA certified Terrific 24 West (July 21-24) with his Factory/AZ AAU squad.

Dylan Godfrey                  6’8”    2023   Elite Prep (Los Angeles CA)
Nimble forward with nice length and smooth 3-point shot is an intriguing prospect. Solid student (3.1 GPA) is a Pacifica Christian (Newport Beach CA) grad that is quick to the glass and is on track to spend a post-grad year to improve his strength.

Deshawn Gory                 6’6”    2024   Oak Hills (Hesperia CA)
Slithering WF with very improved perimeter stroke averaged 13.5 ppg here. Very good student (3.7 GPA) has high major potential. Rivals.com’s current #93 in 2024 played first 2 years of high school at Hillcrest/Riverside CA with 2023 center Dennis Evans before transferring closer to home at Oak Hills.

Shamar Jones                  6’5”    2025   SoCal Academy (Los Angeles CA)
Strong and athletic SG is a HM prospect worthy of tracking coast to coast.  Bay Area native had a high game of 14 points and has early offers from Ole Miss and San Francisco.

Nikolas Khamenia            6’8”    2025   Harvard-Westlake (North Hollywood CA)
Young and skilled forward can really shoot the rock.  Terrific student (recently offered by Stanford) had a high game of 18 points (2 threes) in his second showcase game. BTI AAU team member drew rave reviews from scouts here.

Drew Kingery                   6’4”    2023   Indianola (IA)
Good looking SG and 2022 Pangos All-American Camp Top 60 Game pick made a lasting impression here. Very good student (3.8 GPA) averaged 15.5 points and 2.5 threes per game with a high effort of 17 points (3 threes). Kingery has a pure stroke from deep and excellent basketball instincts.

Seth Mays                        6’5”    2023   LSU Laboratory School (Baton Rouge LA)
2022 NBPA Top 100 Camp invitee and younger brother of NBA guard Skylar Mays is a late-blooming and poised wing guard with nice scoring skills.

Isaiah Miranda                  7’1″    2023   SoCal Academy (CA)
Miranda is a long and athletic Big that is nimble in transition and very explosive at rim. Averaged 18 points per game here.  Underrated and improved 3-point shooter too (hit 2 threes in one game here).  UCLA, USC, Arizona, Georgetown, AZ State among schools watching him closely here.  Top 25 national 2023 prospect and New England native anchors Rhode Island Elite AAU squad.

Jalen Milt                         6’3”    2023   Norview (Norfolk VA)
Confident WG can really score and has an alpha male mindset. Good student (3.3 GPA) had a high game of 14 points (2 threes) here.  Mid-Atlantic sleeper is very undervalued.

Kelvin Odih                      6’3”    2024   LaSalle Academy (Providence RI)
Tough wing can score in paint as well as outside on the perimeter.  Excellent student (3.7 GPA) had a high game of 18 points (2 threes).

Jason Ofcarcik                 6’6”    2023   Woodstock Academy (CT)
Athletic swingman with deceptive bounce at rim rebounds well and can score off the bounce.  Very good student (3.7 GPA) is a multiple position player at the next level.

Styles Phipps                  6’2”    2024   St. Mary’s (Phoenix AZ)
One of the Top 3 2024 PG prospects in West (along with terrific Dedan Thomas Jr. and Jace Richardson), Phipps averaged 15.5 ppg (with a high game of 18 points) here. Good student (3.2 GPA) and 2022 Pangos All-American Camp Top 60 Game pick is drawing SEC, Big 12 and Pac-12 offers and interest at the moment.

Will Smith III                     6’4”    2023   Bishop Montgomery (Torrance CA)
Hardworking wing with chiseled physique has nice pull-up jumper and can finish at cup despite contact. Very good student’s (3.6 GPA) top effort was 14 points (2 threes).  Excellent defender had one of the top plays of the event with an open court steal and dunk over the defender in transition:  https://twitter.com/BallerTV/status/1545400664632827904

John Squire                     6’7”    2023   St. Ignatius (San Francisco CA)
Strong PF with nifty post footwork also has nice ability to face-up and connect from beyond the 3-point line.  One of the few players to hit the 20 point mark here (had a 20 point effort with 4 threes) en route to a 15 ppg average. Very good student just picked up his 1st D1 offer from  Eastern Washington.

Parker Strauss                 6’4”    2023   Pacifica Christian (Newport Beach CA)
Savvy lead guard with terrific passing ability is a magnet for a host of schools (hearing from Mountain West, WCC, Big West, Conference USA, Patriot and Ivy League programs) that have been on his trail since the Section 7 HS June tourney in Arizona. Terrific student too (3.8 GPA).
