Barnes is bound for North Carolina

In one of the more highly anticipated decisions in recent years, Harrison Barnes chose to play ball at North Carolina, signing a letter of intent with the Tar Heels on Friday afternoon despite having a scholarship offer from seemingly every powerhouse program in the nation at some point during the whole recruiting process.

The 6-foot-6 senior from Iowa recently narrowed down his list of schools to six: Duke, Iowa State, Kansas, Oklahoma, UCLA, and the winners, of course, Roy Williams & Co. Barnes ended months of speculation on ESPNU. For those that missed the announcement, click here to see a recap of all the festivities.

Once Barnes steps foot on the Chapel Hill campus, watch out, he’s going to make North Carolina a better team right off the bat. He is, after all, considered the nation’s top player for the 2010 class and proved as much back in May when he dominated the Pangos All-American Camp, held in Southern California.
