Update from adidas Super 64

The point guard play during Friday’s adidas Super 64 in Las Vegas, NV, has been stellar. So stellar, in fact, that we plan on being a bit biased with this post. There will be no mention of big men. Our sole focus will be highlighting a few of the standout floor generals. The point guards. The guys that run the show.

Cory Joseph: There’s a reason why the 6-foot-3 distributor is considered one of the nation’s top 5 players at his position. He’s a pinpoint passer, possesses a lethal jumper and is willing to get down and dirty and play defense.

Ryan Harrow: Gets from baseline to baseline faster than many of his peers. What few don’t realize is that the North Carolina St.-bound baller has tremendous bounce off the floor, impressive given the fact he’s slightly undersized.

Trae Golden: Bit of an unknown, only because we hadn’t seen him in action all that much. However, after seeing what he’s capable of with the leather in his hands, it’s hard not to become a fan of the 6-foot-1 talent.

Josiah Johnson: One of California’s best. Far and away the top playmaker from the northern part of the state. Good thing is, he’s only a junior. This time next year, we could be talking about one of the top 25 players in the country.

Had a Maryland fan ask us about Terrell Stoglin and it just so happens that we had a chance to see the 6-foot point from Arizona in action. So let’s shed some light on him.

Make no mistake, Stoglin can fill it up, fill it up in a hurry. Like to see him give the ball up a little more, but overall, he has a great feel for the game.

Coach Garry Williams was lucky to secure an oral commitment from him back in early April. I can see him making an impact for the Terrapins, maybe not as a freshman, but soon thereafter. Stoglin has a ton of upside.

Cory Joseph is a kid that has came out of no where. I first saw him on ESPNU against Oak Hill and he was tremendous. He almost stole the show from Avery Bradley. I believe he will have a great college career and could be a very steady pro. I was impressed at how Cory ran the Findlay Prep team he seemed like the true leader of the team. Considering I was watching the game to check out some of the other more notable players i.e. Tristan Thompson and of course Tiny Gallon from Oak Hill Academy.
