Could Brandon Knight be bound for Kansas?
Possibly. Quite possibly, in fact.
Reports recently surfaced on the Internet, and in print, for that matter, that the 6-foot-3 point guard from Florida might be leaning toward spending his college years in Lawrence and playing for coach Bill Self instead of heading to UConn, Kentucky, Miami or the in-state Gators. That’s right, Rock Chalk, Jayhawk.
I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if ends up there either. And here’s why Kansas is a good fit for Knight, widely recognized as the nation’s top-ranked player for the 2010 class. First and foremost, the high-profile nature of the program makes it great place to start before making the jump to the NBA, most likley after a one-year stint.
Granted, UConn and Kentucky, in theory, would afford Knight the same opportunity. Miami and Florida, on the other hand, aren’t known as traditional powerhouses. If, however, the individiual is talented, the school doesn’t matter. Unless, of course, that school is Kansas, which regularly sends players to the next level.
Bottom line: Knight and Kansas makes sense, at least for the time being. Now, I’m sure John Calipari and the Wildcats would like to think otherwise, along with Jim Calhoun and the Huskies. Come to think of it, can’t imagine any coach in this country that wouldn’t like to have Knight in the mix. He’s a special player, no doubt about it. Â
Thing is, the rest of the nation might miss out on the Knight sweepstakes. The rumor going around is, Self and the rest of his coaching are so determined to land him that they’ve set up a date in September for a trip to Florida. Not surprisingly, whispers indicate Knight plans on returning the favor, visiting Kansas in October.Â
That said, Kansas has to be considered one of the front-runners. End of story.

What do you base this on? A rumor that you repeat about five times in an article does not make it a fact. How does Kansas make sense? You really offer nothing Kansas can offer him except a view of a lot of corn. In Kentucky, Knight knows that he has a coach that will have sent THREE straight PG’s into the top 5 picks of the NBA and two of those three (Wall, Rose) will be the number one pick over all.
Who has Bill Self sent to the NBA?
Knight’s Mom was recently in Lexington and met with Calipari and UK president Lee Todd. Has she done that? Brandon Knight is headed for Wildcat Blue…
This might be the worst article i have ever seen. Knight is doing in home visits with everyone of his schools, and then he is taking official visits after that to them all so i guess by what you said all of his schools have to a front runners then if thats the case. End of Story. I have also been all over the internet and i have not heard one thing about knight leaning towards kansas, he is leaning more towards kentucky and uconn than kansas is what i hear all over the internet.
Actually, this information is based on fact. Several sources have confirmed that Knight plans on making an appearance in Lawrence, sometime around mid-October, for Midnight Madness, which essentially signals the beginning of hoops practice for the Jayhawks. I’d say that’s a strong indication that he’s interested in Kansas. No one mentioned anything about Knight giving a commitment at that point, but it is worth noting that he’ll be in attendance at such a high-profile event. Regardless, thanks for the feedback.
WOW, what a joke!!! His mother visited the three schools that he is the most interested in earlier this month. UK, UConn, and Miami… Knight also has family in Lexington, Kentucky. Knight will be a WILDCAT of UK!!!! You also said back in the spring that Wall would end up at Kansas or Memphis and well he didnt.
Why do you call the UF the hometown Gators? Don’t you realize he lives in the county next door to Miami. Gainesville is several hours away. There is nothing to indicate that Kansas has the edge on Miami, UConn, etc. You lack creditable based on statements like this.
Kansas is a frontrunner because he is attending the high profile “Late Night in the Phog” at Allen Fieldhouse, instead of going to any of the other schools latenight events. That usually shows a good sign of interest in a program.
“Who has Bill Self sent to the NBA?”
Huh?
Even if you discount anything he ever did before Kansas, five Jayhawks were drafted off of the championship team (tieing the record) and one more might get there (R. Robinson). Julian Wright was a lottery pick the year before, and expect Aldrich, Collins, Henry, and possibly, Taylor to be drafted next year from this year’s team.
Paul:
Self has put many players in the NBA. More players than Calipari, in fact. That’s not even taking into account that, according to the NCAA, Calipari’s best player never actually played for him. Knight may or may not go to Kansas, but the consensus number #1 school in the polls has plenty to offer “other than a view of a lot of corn.”
When I think of john calipari and kentucky, I think of Tark the Shark and UNLV!
[...] Nothing But Net thinks Kansas is the front-runner for Brandon Knight. (Hat tip to Aaron’s UK Basketball Blog.) [...]
Only UK fans would be proud to have a cheat coach like Calipari heading their program. Great representation loser fan base.
Bill Self players drafted in the NBA: Frankie Williams, Robert Archibald, Deron Williams, Dee Brown, Luther Head, James Augustine, Wayne Simien, Julian Wright, Darnell Jackson, Brandon Rush, Mario Chalmers, Sasha Kahn and Darell Arthur. As for the 2010 draft: Cole Aldrich, Sherron Collins, Xavier Henry and Tyshawn Taylor.
Excellent site, keep up the good work
Great site…keep up the good work.
Excellent site, keep up the good work. I read a lot of blogs on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks,
A definite great read..

Paul is obviously Jealous. What does Kentucky have to offer him? A final four visit that will eventually be taken away because Calamari? A School who has done nothing of relevance in the past 10 years? A coach who cheats and STILL can’t get a national championship? Seriously Paul, get off the John Cheaterpari kool-aid.
What does Kansas have to offer him?
Lets see, a Coach who has actually won a National Championship, A school that has been dominant in basketball since it was invented, one of the most historic arenas in the NCAA, so much history it would take a long time to list it all, the longest home winning streak in the nation, must I go on?
“Who has Bill Self sent to the NBA?”
Really Paul? Really? Let’s see, Brandon Rush (started in rookie season), Mario Chalmers (started all games in rookie season), Julian Wright (played in most games in rookie season), Wayne Simien, Darrel Arthur (started in rookie season)
Then he has more players to send like Sherron Collins, Cole Aldrich( Top 5 pick most likely), Xavier Henry (top 10 pick most likely), Tyshawn Taylor
Thank you. Great site.
